1. Miele Classic C1

Miele Classic C1 is a line of lightweight and compact canister corded vacuum cleaners that, despite their miniature size, have a high power of 1200 Watt. These models are perfect for low-piled carpets and hard floors.

Among the distinctive features of the vacuum cleaner, we highlight the aforementioned small dimensions and several modes of operation with variable suction forces.

A long 18 ft power cord provides excellent maneuverability and coverage of a large area. Besides, the wire automatically rewinds, which means it won’t get tangled or stuck during the operation.

The Classic C1 is a bagged vacuum that keeps 3.5 liters of dirt while filtering the majority of dangerous air particles.

The vacuum cleaner kit includes three additional accessories for removing dust, dirt on the upholstery, and in narrow inaccessible places such as cracks and crevices. A lightweight wand with a flexible plastic hose also helps to clean in hard-to-reach areas such as under a bed, sofa, cabinets, tables, between furniture legs, etc.

However, at the same time, users note that the lack of a motor-driven brush makes the model unsuitable for cleaning on medium and thick carpets with complex and old dirt. Also, the vacuum cleaner doesn’t do very well with hair, which upsets the owners of fluffy pets.

Pros

  • small and lightweight
  • high suction power
  • several modes and suction alteration
  • nice filtering
  • additional nozzles
  • capacious dust bag
  • long and rewind cord
  • quiet work

Cons

  • no motor-driven brush
  • doesn’t cope with pet hair
  • doesn’t cope with medium and high carpets
  • high price

2. Miele Compact C2

Compared to the C1, the Miele Compact C2 canister vacuum cleaner is smaller, has a broader reach of more than 33 feet, and a 1200 Watt Vortex motor.

This model is an improved version of the previous vacuum cleaner and is suitable for maintaining cleanliness in any dwelling from a small studio apartment to a private house. The vacuum cleaner shows the best result when cleaning hard surfaces and low carpets.

Miele Compact C2 is equipped with a button control panel on the case. With it, the user can switch between 6 speeds, modes of operation, and suction power.

The 3.5-liter HyClean FJM dust bag is easy to remove. A special mesh layer prevents the bag from breaking even if the user removes sharp objects with a vacuum cleaner, such as fragments of dishes.

The Air Clean filter holds the smallest particles of dust and allergens, and all connections and case joints are securely sealed. Therefore, such a device is recommended for use by families with small children or people prone to allergies.

Among the advantages of the Compact C2 series models, there is a set of three additional nozzles and a convenient telescopic hose. The model will cope with any part of the room from the floor under the sofa to curtains and upholstery.

Unfortunately, Miele C2 also doesn’t have a motor brush and nozzles for working with pet hair.

Pros

  • even more compact dimensions
  • higher suction power
  • several modes and suction alteration
  • Air Clean filter
  • 100% sealed
  • additional nozzles
  • capacious dust bag
  • long and rewind cord
  • compact system of hose and wand storage
  • silent work

Cons

  • no motor-driven brush
  • not suitable for pet hair cleaning
  • not suitable for medium and high carpets
  • high price

3. Miele Complete C3

At the moment, Miele Complete C3 is the manufacturer’s most advanced canister vacuum cleaner that offers the best characteristics of three models.

The Complete line includes 9 models of vacuums for various purposes (Brilliant, Homecare, Homecare+, the Limited Edition, Cat & Dog, and so on), but basically, they have the same following features.

First of all, this vacuum is very powerful. As all previous series, it uses 1200 Watt Vortex motor, and some models have turbo rollers designed for hair and thick carpets. However, not all vacuums are suitable for such challenging tasks.

The Miele vacuum cleaner has 6 power levels and 3 nozzles for cleaning any surface of different difficulty levels. These are such accessories as Standard/Extended crevice nozzle, the upholstery tool, and the dusting brush.

For such a powerful motor, the vacuum cleaner runs quietly and has a large working radius. A 25-foot power cord, telescopic hose, and nozzle provide up to 36 feet radius. An automatic cable rewinding system is also provided here.

A distinctive feature of this model is its excellent filtration. All connections are safely sealed. The device uses a motor filter that protects it from dirt and an output AirClean filter. Filters are classified as HEPA and trap 99.9% of contaminants. The vacuum cleaner has a huge dust bag of 4.5 liters.

Pros

  • compact case
  • 3 nozzles
  • 6 cleaning modes
  • nice suction
  • turbo rollers in some modifications
  • good for carpets
  • HEPA filters
  • compact system of hose and wand storage
  • perfect for allergy sufferers
  • long cord
  • big dustbag
  • compact system of hose and wand storage

Cons

  • high price
  • not all models are suitable for pet hair and thick carpets
  • not all models have turbo brush

Detailed Face to Face Comparison

Design, Size, and Dimensions

The manufacturer paid special attention to the design of vacuum cleaners and made sure it’s both functional and aesthetic. Models of different series are somewhat different in size, but the shape and general features of vacuum cleaners have been preserved.

All vacuums have an elongated, oval, egg-shaped body made of plastic.

On top, there is a handle for transferring the device and a place for attaching a flexible hose.

In the lower part of the case, there is a panel for switching operating modes, which are equally convenient for pressing with a hand and a foot.

The Compact and Complete series are distinguished by an improved system for attaching the hose and the wand to the body. Thus, vacuum cleaners occupy a minimum of space and are very convenient to store.

The color range of vacuum cleaners is vast and matches any interior.

Miele Classic C1

Miele Classic C1
The Classic C1 series turns out to be the biggest and heaviest of the three models, with its 18.2 in height and 11 in width. One item weighs 16.1 pounds.

Nevertheless, such dimensions are very comfortable and don’t constrain the user’s movements during cleaning.

Miele Compact C2

Miele Compact C2
The Compact C2 is precisely what its name implies as this vacuum has smaller and more comfortable dimensions.

Its height and width are 9 x 9.6 inches. At the same time, the item weight is 18.7 pounds, i.e., this Miele vacuum is more massive than the previous model.

Miele Complete C3

Miele Complete C3
Complete C3 model proved to be the most compact and light robot of Miele. It measures record 8.25 x 10.5 inches. The vacuum is also portable and very handy compared to its «brothers» as it weighs only 12 pounds.

Cord Length

As our vacuums refer to the corded category, their freedom of movement is somehow limited. Some users consider it to be a disadvantage, but in fact, cord power guarantees unlimited runtime.

At the same time, if the cord is long enough, you won’t feel any discomfort.

Plus, Miele engineers provided vacuums with the so-called One-Touch rewind technology to avoid entanglement or stucks. With just a push of a button, you can automatically rewind the cord inside the appliance.

Miele Classic C1

Miele Classic C1 Cord Length
The first model of our review features a 18 ft cord.

Together with the telescopic hose and a nozzle, it makes up a 30 ft cleaning radius.

Miele Compact C2

Miele Compact C2 Cord Length
The Compact C2 model went through some improvements, which touched the cord length too.

Now, it has a 21 ft. power wire with a total 33 ft radius.

Miele Complete C3

Miele Compact C3 Cord Length
Being the most innovative series, Miele Complete C3 is equipped with the longest cord of 25 ft that provides as many as 36.5 feet for free vacuuming.

Power and Modes

All three models are equipped with one type of Vortex motor designed for 1200 Watt. Such a choice was obligatory to comply with the newest regulations of the EU commission.

However, vacuums differ in productivity. While the Classic and Compact models can work only with hard and low-piled floors, the Complete cleaners cope even with high pile.

We’re going to explain this phenomenon a bit later in the Accessories part. Now let’s have a look at presented modes.

Miele Classic C1

Miele Classic C1 Power and Modes
Miele Classic C1 features 6 speed settings. They are:

  • Curtains & lightweight fabrics
  • Upholstery & cushions
  • Pile carpet, rugs, & runners
  • Energy saving mode (low noise)
  • Low pile carpet
  • Hard floor surfaces

To switch between the modes, users should turn a special knob in a clockwise direction to match it with a chosen mode image. But the on/off button and cord rewinding have foot pedals.

Miele Compact C2

Miele Compact C2 Power and Modes
The Compact C2 vacuums have the same 6 modes, which are:

  • Curtains & lightweight fabrics
  • Upholstery & cushions
  • Pile carpet, rugs, & runners
  • Energy saving mode (low noise)
  • Low pile carpet
  • Hard floor surfaces

Like in the previous vacuums, the settings need hand control, while two buttons (on/off and cord) can be pushed by foot.

Miele Complete C3

Miele Compact C3 Power and Modes
Miele engineers didn’t add any new settings to their best series, and we see the same 6 options:

  • Curtains & lightweight fabrics
  • Upholstery & cushions
  • High pile carpet, rugs, & runners
  • Energy saving mode (low noise)
  • Low pile carpet
  • Hard floor surfaces

But there is one great change in the way of mode choice. Now we can control all buttons with our hands or feet, so we don’t need to bend down to set the desired power level anymore.

Filter System

Miele Classic C1

Miele Compact C1 Filtration
All C1s use the AirClean system to filter the air.

All models come with an AirClean filters, which retains 94% of particles less than 0.3 microns in diameter. The system includes a motor-protection filter that keeps large particles, an exhaust filter, and the primary AirClean filter designed to capture the smallest elements and allergens.

The original filters can be replaced with the optional and more effective HEPA filters.

Miele Compact C2

Miele Compact C2 Filtration
The Compact C2 vacuums work with the same triple filtering system – motor filter – exhaust filter – main filter.

However, now the main filter is a HEPA one. Thus, vacuum retains 99% of particles less than 0.3 microns and provides better protection for allergy sufferers.

Miele Complete C3

Miele Compact C3 Filtration

All the models of the Complete C3 series have special HEPA filters, which meet the European HEPA 13 standard and filter 99.95% of all airborne particles.

In comparison with standard HEPA filters that hold 0.3 microns, these capture down to 0.1 microns.
The vacuums also come with a TimeStrip indicator, which shows you when it’s time to change the filter.

Dust Bag Capacity

All Miele vacuum cleaners are bagged. The garbage compartments are securely sealed and strengthened from breakouts, so the collected dirt will not spill out when emptying or cleaning up sharp fragments.

Miele Classic C1

Miele Classic C1 Dust Bag Capacity
Miele Classic C1 has a secure bag for 3.5 liters of debris.

Miele Compact C2

Miele Compact C2 Dust Bag Capacity
Though vacuums of the Compact C2 series went through definite improvements, their dust bag stayed the same 3.5 L.

Miele Complete C3

Miele Complete C3 Dust Bag Capacity
Miele Complete C3 vacuums have much bigger bags for 4.5 liters, so they need a rather rare emptying.

Noise

As all Miele vacuum cleaners offer the same operating modes, they also feature equal noise level.

Many users claim that these vacuums stand out from other corded canister models by their unusually silent work.

Even in the most powerful mode, cleaners produce about 70 decibels, while the Energy saving mode (low noise) guarantees only 57 decibels.

Accessories

All kits include a vacuum itself, a telescopic hose, and a steel wand. Additionally, we have a choice of three accessories.

Miele Classic C1

Miele Classoc C1 Cleaning Head
Depending on the surface type, degree of pollution, and current task, the main cleaning head may be replaced by a dusting brush, and an upholstery tool, and a crevice tool.

Miele Compact C2

Miele Compact C2 Electro+ PowerLine
Miele Compact C2 provides the same tools for extra dust, cleaning in hard-to-reach places like baseboards, corners, floor cracks, and dealing with soft furniture and its upholstery.

Miele Complete C3

The Complete C3 doesn’t differ from its predecessor vacuums, except for one improvement. In the box, we can find a crevice tool, a dusting brush, and an upholstery tool.

Plus, depending on the Complete C3 model, each vacuum has a turbo roller driven by airflow or electricity. This great addition allows the C3 models to cope even with high-piled carpets that are still too complicated surface for other Classic and Compact cleaners.

Tests on different types of floors

Multiple vacuum cleaner tests show that the Miele canister vacuums greatly perform on different surfaces, picking up a variety of debris types.

We take three different floor types, including hard floors, low pile carpet, and high pile carpet.

Miele Classic C1

Miele Classic C1 Tests
Characteristics of the vacuum and manufacturer’s promises totally coincide with the real results.

We see that the vacuum faces no problems with cleaning hard floors and low carpets.

Speaking about disadvantages, we should mention that it has difficulties with high carpets.

Its power and absence of turbo brush don’t allow cleaner to extract debris from deep pile levels. We also don’t recommend this model for hair vacuuming.

Miele Compact C2

Miele Compact C2 Tests
The Compact C2 vacuums are similar to the previous Classic models.

They also provide the perfect result on hard and low-piled flooring.

The vac doesn’t struggle with any of the debris on the hard floor and captures any dirt with a single pass.

However, it won’t help you clean your thick carpets.

Miele Complete C3

Miele Complete C3 Tests
As we have said before, this series gives more possibilities in cleaning. In comparison with its «brothers», the C3 vacuums have better equipment, which contributes to functionality.

Miele Complete shows perfect cleaning even on high pile thanks to the suction and turbo brushes.

The broad model range also allows us to choose a vacuum for very specific purposes like Cat & Dog or Brilliant modifications.

Frequently Asked Questions

Miele Classic C1 vs Compact C2 vs Complete C3: which vacuum has more accessories?

The more accessories you have, the more surfaces you can clean. So, if you`re planning to take it all, choose Miele Complete C3 model. Apart from the main powerhead, it comes with a dusting brush, upholstery tool, and a crevice tool. With such a kit, you`ll be able to vacuum floors, furniture, curtains, and even car interior.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Miele vacuum is the most maneuverable?

Among all three models of our review, Miele Complete C3 offers the widest cleaning radius and the longest cord. Thus, you get a 25ft cable, which, in combination with the hose and the powerhead, forms 36.5ft radius.

What is the best affordable Miele vacuum for pet hair?

Miele is a rather expensive brand. Still, you can try its excellent Classic C1 model that has 6 speed options for any dirt, an efficient turbo brush floorhead, AirClean filtation, and 3.5L bag. Besides, you get dusting and upholstery tools to deal with spot pet hair pollution. Featuring all these moments, Miele Classic C1 will cost you $399.

How can I understand when to replace a FilterBag on my Miele vacuum?

All Miele vacuums are equipped with original Miele FJM FilterBags with a special red collar. These FilterBags are disposable and intended to be replaced when full. Your vacuum will inform you about the necesity of changing. Change the FilterBag when the color marker in the FilterBag change indicator turns red.

Conclusion

As we see, all vacuum cleaners are worthy of attention. Therefore, the question of choosing one specific model can cause significant difficulties.

The vacuum cleaners of the Classic and Compact series are very similar functionally. However, they have a significant difference in price. If the C1 costs about $400, then the C2 will take no less than $750. If you have a large house with mostly hard floors, no pets or allergies, then we recommend you to save and safely take one of the Classic C1 vacuums. But if you want to provide better air filtration, you need a more extensive cleaning radius and a smaller storage location, then an overpayment of 3$50 will be justified.

If we talk about Complete C3, then this cleaner certainly surpasses the two previous ones. Not only do you get the perfect assistant for any surface, but you can also choose the most suitable device from a wide range of 9 models. However, the price for such pleasure is not affordable for everyone. Expect to spend from $1000 to $1500 on one Miele Complete C3 vacuum.
